All About Me And This Website . . .

I am sharing my story and my life to help others to understand. I have opened up in this website because friends and others have asked to me to do so and requested I relate more about my experiences and myself. Thanks for your encouragement and interest!   Some things here on this website I have never told anyone, not even members of my own family. They will very soon find out. This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but I hope it will help someone somehow.

 

I am Dean Allen Choate born October 13, 1965. I try to lead a simple life, nothing too fancy at least. I was a typical child and got into lots of trouble, went to public school and worked from about age 14. I have been suffering since birth with various medical problems. I was born cross eyed and had that repaired when I was three years old. I had severe leg and foot problems growing up. I was told they were just "Growing Pains" and they did nothing about them. In the late 70s I was diagnosed with Lyme's Disease from a Tick bite and went through two treatments of IV antibiotics and to no success. So I just suffered.

 

 I have worked at many jobs and various industries until a work related accident 1991 ended my career in television broadcasting. I worked in radio at various stations throughout the Wausau Wisconsin broadcast market.  I went on to school to study small business management and supervisory management until 1996. I grew up in Central Wisconsin area. I reside in Stevens Point, Wisconsin area.

 

In December 1996, something strange happened to me on my way home from my job in Fort Dodge, Iowa and I blacked out for about 45 minutes to an hour. To this day I am still not really sure what happened at all that night. I don't even recall how I got home or even who I was or who the people who were around me were for that matter. I found myself in the Trinity Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Fort Dodge, Iowa. I was living near there in Clare, Iowa at the time. I had blacked out and the started to seizure. I was told I had a seizure disorder. I was treated by a Neurologist at Fort Dodge Medical Center. I was put on Depokote (A seizure Medication) until I could get another opinion. I was seen by many doctors and neurologists at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa for seizures, and Then Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Things were still not just right. I was then sent to see Behavioral Medicine and found out I had all the symptoms of depression as well as many unanswered medical problems. I continued my treatment in Iowa until I moved back to the Central Wisconsin area in March of 1999 to be near my family again.

 

I was recently (2000) diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and now dealing with constant chronic pain as well. I have days I am not able to walk or even move for that matter.  I have found some medications that have helped me a bit and hope they can find others as well in the future. I currently use a TENS Unit as well.

 

In 2003, I was diagnosed with having the start of Heart Disease and Diabetes Type 2 of which my Mother passed away from in October 2003. I have made an attempt to go back to work and have not been able to do so. Now I am now considered disabled and unable to work.

 

This is why I am writing poetry and stories to have published in a book sometime soon. I plan on sharing some of them here on this website as well.  Enjoy my writings.

Some of which started at birth.  I am not by any means a doctor nor a psychiatrist, or psychologist, but an "REAL" person who understands what it is like to feel like you may have no future at all.

 

This webpage is designed to let you get to know me through my writings, poetry, and other little things I add to my site that allows a piece of me to appear. I live in a world of somewhat constant pain. I have many medical problems. I hope this site helps me to tell others about my experiences. I have a lot of myself to open up and share and hopefully I can do so in a fashion that will not upset or offend anyone. At one time I did write deep and dark things and I want to share these feelings, as well as share the wonderful and upbeat parts of my life as well.

 

I invite you to join me, walk beside and with me, and cry with me as I travel this long and winding road. Share my life with me, and find out that there is someone else out there who has experienced or felt the same way you do.
